Preventive Pump Maintenance: Daily to Annual Checks

A practical maintenance rhythm for vibration, sealing, bearings, alignment and performance records.

Daily or per shift Check leakage, unusual noise, vibration, bearing temperature, suction and discharge pressure, flow and motor current. Record readings so trends are visible. Monthly Inspect lubrication, coupling guards, foundation bolts, cooling and flushing lines. Compare vibration and operating data with the baseline. Quarterly or according to duty Check alignment, coupling condition, seal system, filters and minimum-flow arrangements. Investigate persistent deviation rather than only resetting alarms. Annual outage Inspect wear parts and internal surfaces, verify clearances, examine the impeller and shaft, renew damaged seals and test the protection system. Intervals must be adapted to the liquid, duty cycle, criticality and manufacturer instructions. Good records are as important as the inspection itself.
