Cavitation prevention starts with sufficient NPSHa over NPSHr at every credible operating condition. Use the lowest tank level, highest liquid temperature, site atmospheric pressure and actual suction-line losses in the check.
Keep suction piping short and direct, use adequate diameter, avoid high points that trap gas, keep strainers clean and provide a smooth inlet. Avoid throttling on the suction side unless the system has been engineered for it.
Operating far from the intended range can create internal recirculation and cavitation-like damage. Confirm the real flow, valve position and system curve before changing the pump. Persistent noise or vibration needs measurement and diagnosis; it is not proof by itself.
